Adobe Premiere (formerly Premiere Pro) is Adobe's professional video editing application, available for desktop and mobile. The desktop app covers editing, title animation, effects, and sound mixing, while the mobile app is a free, standalone editor aimed at social video. With a paid desktop membership, you can start a project on mobile and pick it up on desktop to finish with the full toolset.
A recent addition is Color Mode, a color grading system built for editors and currently in beta. Adobe describes it as a way to shape and adjust your look without leaving your edit. The app also includes AI features powered by Adobe Firefly, which run on generative credits included with subscriptions (25 per month on the single-app plan, 4,000 on Creative Cloud Pro).
Premiere supports a wide range of formats, including H.264, H.265 (HEVC), Apple ProRes, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVCHD, and native camera formats like Canon and Sony RAW, in QuickTime (MOV) or MXF containers. Subscriptions also bundle Adobe Express Premium, Frame.io for Creative Cloud, 100GB of cloud storage, and access to tutorials, fonts, and templates. Adobe states there are over 7 million Creative Cloud Pro subscribers worldwide.
Pricing: The Premiere single-app plan costs US$22.99/mo (annual, billed monthly). The Creative Cloud Pro plan, which adds 20+ apps like Photoshop and After Effects, is US$34.99/mo for the first 3 months (a 50% discount for new subscribers), then US$69.99/mo. Students and teachers can get Creative Cloud Pro at US$19.99/mo for the first year, then US$39.99/mo. A seven-day free trial is available. There is no perpetual license option.
